With Father’s Day right around the corner we thought it was time to give you some brilliant ideas of how to make the day extra special for your dad. As always, we think the best way to show your appreciation is with a lovingly home baked treat! Therefore we’ve made a list of the best treats you can make your dad this year, because there’s no better way to show someone that you love them than with a sweet treat, right?
Honey Cake
This Honey Cake is a family favourite! Baked to perfection, this cake has a crispy outside and a soft and sweet inside. The centre of the cake has got an amazing gooey honey filling that is hard for anyone to resist! For extra sweetness we also topped with a honey frosting. This is such a classic in my family and the prefect tea time treat.
Apple Pie
According to my dad this is the best desert I make! It’s the one I choose to bake for him on any special occasion. With a maca-infused date toffee centre that is topped with softly baked apple slices its easy to understand why. The pie shell is my “ultimate pastry” which is hard to beat! It’s a truly special cake that I love sharing with my dad. You can find this recipe in my book, I hope your dad enjoys it just as much as mine.
Peach and Raspberry Tart
If you don’t have the Livia’s Kitchen cookbook this recipe is a great alternative to the apple pie we just mentioned! The fruit on top can easily be exchanged for apple slices to make a delicious apple pie. However keeping it topped with peach and raspberry is equally as tasty and it’s a great flavour combination for summer! We love the crumbly oat crust combined with the sweet almond filling. The fruits are gently baked with coconut sugar which brings a delicious caramel flavour to the tart. Perfect for a summer afternoon tea!
Fudgy Caramel Coffee Cake
This gooey coffee caramel cake will make anyone happy! When we made it in the office last time it went within a few hours, you won’t be able to keep your hands away. We originally made it as a fondant but thought that it would be great as a big cake, basically a small fondant wasn’t enough to please our greedy stomachs. The cake itself is completely gooey and it’s like one huge brownie. The pockets of coffee caramel are heavenly. You simply must put it on your “to-make” list!
Carrot cake
This recipe was included in our Mother’s day round-up as well, but who doesn’t love carrot cake! Our recipe is magnificent and perfect to share with the family. The sponge is filled with shredded carrots and loads of delicious spices. In between the layers and on the outside of the cake we put a cinnamon and orange frosting. We decorated it with a handful of crushed walnuts for extra indulgence! Definitely a crowd pleaser.
We hope that this was helpful and that you got some inspiration of what to make your dad this year! I love seeing your recreations so please tag me in your Instagram pictures #LiviasKitchen. Let me know if you have any other ideas of what to make for Father’s Day in the comments below!
